Are you planning a family trip and thinking of doing something different than usual? How about a Segway Safari? Yes, you will be riding this popular transportation device while you tour the amazing surroundings of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Sounds amazing, right?

First, you need to arrange your Cabarita Beach accommodation. Cabarita Lake Apartments which is located at the seaside village of Cabarita and is less than 30 minutes drive from the Gold Coast and Byron Bay can provide you with easy access. In fact, the accommodation is just 1 km from Cabarita Beach and is also close to the renowned beaches of Casuarina, Kingscliff, Pottsville & Hastings Point.

But if amazing shows, animal encounters and experiences are on the top of your to-do list, the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is just a short drive away. To help you with your itinerary, we have compiled a shortlist.

1. Watch the sanctuary's brand new shows

First on the list is the WildSkies – Free Flight Bird Show which opened on New Year's Day. This new show runs in the new purpose-built stadium. This show takes the audience to the majestic world of flight. Here you can meet some of Australia’s most beautiful species of birds like the wedge-tailed eagle or bunjil (Aquila audax), the largest bird of prey in Australia.

Another is the all-new fun, interactive and fast-paced musical show called Blinky Bill’s Studio Adventure. The little ones would surely love to dance and sing along, not to mention meet Blinky Bill after the show.

2. Explore The Gruffalo Trail

The Gruffalo is a children's book by writer and playwright Julia Donaldson which tells the story of a mouse, the protagonist of the book, taking a walk in the woods.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary opened a new interactive trail called The Gruffalo Trail where visitors explore the deep dark wood. Along the way you can meet the characters - Mouse, Fox, Owl, Snake and The Gruffalo and take photos. Just make sure to download The Gruffalo Spotter App from the App Store or Google Play Store.

3. Journey through the Lost Valley

The Lost Valley is 5 acres of stunning rainforest where you can witness some of the world's most unique and distinctive flora and wildlife. Lost Valley animals include Capybaras, Cotton- top tamarins, Lemurs and Red pandas to name a few.

4. Segway Safari

Would you like to really experience the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary? Going on a Segway Safari is the best way. You get to delve deeper into the sanctuary and learn more with the help of the sanctuary's own experienced wildlife officer. For safety, closed shoes are required and participants between 10-17 years old need to be accompanied by a paying parent or guardian.

5. Dine at the Sanctuary Cafe

Since you are there, why not grab the chance to dine at the Sanctuary Cafe? The cafe is surrounded by beautiful gardens which means you will get to experience a different but awesome kind of dining.
