Don’t miss Byron Bay Surf Festival from February 24 – 26 at Byron Bay Beach. Enjoy three-days of sand, surf and fun.
The annual Byron Bay Surf Festival focuses on the creative culture within surfing. Byron Bay is the perfect venue to showcase all that is unique and attractive about surfing, drawing from the rich local and national surfing heritage, the creative energy and natural surfing location that is Byron Bay.
A 3-day fusion of ’Surf Culture Now’, featuring surf art, photography, live music, films, history, workshops, literature, markets, design, craft, innovation, presentations, sustainability, youth art, swap-meet, surfing and lifestyle.
After winning the surf culture award at the 2015 Australian surfing awards, for best contribution to surf culture, the Byron Bay Surf Festival increased it’s reputation as the one annual event on the international surf calendar not to be missed.
The Festival features over 25 different free and ticketed events, including; surfing, art, music, film, yoga, surfboards, design, markets, fashion, presentations, education, demo’s, literature, history, food, health and culminating on Sunday with highly popular freestyle & stoke surf sessions at Wategos beach.
The festival opens up Friday 24th of February at the Lone Goat Gallery with an internationally curated art show before moving up the road to Byron’s main Beach foreshore for the opening ceremony and outdoor sunset cinema. Saturday finds the main beach lined with the sprawling Surf Art Market. Sunday is beach day and one of the most popular events of the festival is the freestyle&stoke surf sessions held at the dreamy Wategos beach. After a day of sharing waves and community fun it is only good manners that we throw a little party. This evening event will include live music, food and after a hot summer’s day, probably plenty of bevy’s.
