Get ready for three days of exciting music, arts, crafts, and food! From September 11 to 13 delight your ears as local, national, and international musicians come together for the 2015 Tyalgum Music Festival at the historic Tyalgum Community Hall.
Visitors can look forward to six concerts and a Family Concert featuring - The cappella ensemble Song Company, Ironwood quartet, classical accordionist James Crabb, Clocked Out duo, Brisbane’s musical delight Camerata of St John’s, and “composer in residence” Jon Rose. Also performing are cellist and viola da gambist Daniel Yeadon, violinist/composer Hollis Taylor, as well as composer Kim Cunio and soprano Heather Lee.
Besides the musical performances, Tyalgum Music Festival prepared various free events in the area. Available throughout the weekend are the Sound Bubble, Caldera Art Exhibition, and the “Resurrection Tyalgum Hall” Exhibition.
Look out for the Sound Bubble designed by composer Damian Barbeler. It is a huge, transparent, and inflatable music box where musicians perform fantastic musical experiments with the use of their instruments. In the ceiling are hundreds of variously sized white balloons where light will dance bringing the music box to life.
Visitors can also see the works from the Caldera Art Gallery at the Tyalgum Community Hall as part of the Caldera Art Exhibition. Opposite Tyalgum Community Hall is the Studio Gallery where “Resurrection Tyalgum Hall” Exhibition will be held. Witness the artist Jasna Spiranovic’s photographs and drawings of the recent resurrection of “the acoustic gem” - Tyalgum Community Hall.
In addition, a special two-day weekend market will be open during the Tyalgum Music Festival. Be sure to visit the Tyalgum Village Market from September 12 to 13 at the Celestial Dew Guesthouse right next the Flutterbies Cottage Café. For more stalls and live music, head over to the Vintage Corner located at the corner of Balluna and Coolman Streets.
Then on September 13, grab the chance to hear the morning birdsong and take part in the guided nature walk. Meeting place is at the Tyalgum Community Hall at 8am. Don’t be late!
